The Ivy

Upscale finishes, new units and on-site storage make The Ivy stand out

The Ivy is the archetypal Wildcat Group project. Built in 1949, The Ivy had dozens of overhead power lines criss-crossing the property complex and a large basement given over to laundry facilities, but an excellent location near Tucson’s biggest urban park, golf course and public zoo.

Because this property was nearly 70 years old at the time of redevelopment, every unit had slightly different dimensions and was more akin to renovating 37 single family homes than a cookie-cutter apartment complex renovation. The property did not have air conditioning units, only "swamp coolers.” First, we repaired and buried the overhead lines, removing a major eyesore and safety hazard from the premises. Since in-unit washers and dryers are a core component of our renovation plan, we removed the basement laundry rooms and turned these spaces into four brand-new units. While these basement units had different geometries than the rest of the apartments at the complex, they received the same luxury finishes and high-quality appliances as every other unit onsite.

Finally, we concluded our renovation process with the construction of a number of brand-new storage units onsite at the property, matching the brick aesthetic of the original 1949 buildings, alongside 28 new single-car garages.
